Last week i was changing the water in my tank when one of my cichlids made a leap for freedom! Never had i seen i fish jump so high! Anyway, it landed 'splat' on the carpet, about 3 foot below.
Has this happened to anyone else? I thought maybe the 'sinking' effect when he's not swimming is some kind of swim bladder problem, but im not sure. Any ideas? BTW, im not entirly sure what cichlid he is, possibly a male Archocentrus spilurus! Does anyone have any of these kinds of fish? |

I had an oscar when I was in college. He jumped out once and did the exact same thing you described for more than a week. He turned out fine after that. I think it's just the stress or shock.
