About how many neon tetras can I put in a 20g?

20G a "nano" tank? My, our criteria seem to be loosening up quite a bit!

In any case, 20-30 fish would not be unreasonable, but I'd go easy and build the school up until you reach a point where the effect is pleasing to the eye. My guess is that that point will come before you've reached such numbers.

are the neons the only fish in the tank? If so, I would say about 20 to 25 would work

I would start out 6 though, and work my way up. I personally love see schooling fish. I have 4 killies and 5 rasboras, but since I am moving to a 55 gal, I thought to add 5 more harliquinn rasboras.

i'd put 20-30 cardinal tetras.

i like to understock just to be on the safe side(ducks from Stones) so id start with 10 at first and add another 5-7 later. also look for the rarer green neon tetra cool little fish!

they get about an inch and a half to two inches. both like alot of plant cover also. goods luck with your tetras.
