Mixed answer: I have named fish in the past, like my Jack Dempsy, but I haven't in a while.

I have named a few of my fish with my girlfriend. My Moliwe Pair are named Poseidon and Amphitrite since they are the king and queen of my tank.. I also call my candy striped goby hambone since he hams it up and gets in every picture oppurtunity just about possible.

I've only named two of my fish. My big grandaddy kuhli loach that I've had forever (Archie), and my angelfish (Emmet, because he has the same colouring as my cat, Emma).

Actually I do name some of my fish....
Any of my fish that have a distinct personality, behavior that makes them unique I tend to "humanize" and they get named. My tiger Loach is named Hernandez Pointynose (drunken ramble brought that name to the table) My 13" Sailfin Plec is Named Elvis (his "quaff" is pretty impressive) You get the idea..

I named both my bettas because something happened that lead to a name - The red one was Satan and the blue one was named by my cat "Catfood" (Though he never was in fact catfood, she just liked to bat at his tank).
My other fish are rather too shy to get names of yet... Nicole

Only a couple of fish. The 12" Jag is Tough Guy being he's the only one in his tank cause he beats the crap out of any other fish. While moving tanks around, drained the malawi tank down to the sand, was just about to fill it when noticed a fry flopping around and took it out. Called him Lucky cause the Arowana, Pike, and Ghost knife were going in there.

Hi folks, its my first post so be gentle
It`s funny I was chatting to my gf about this subject the other day, we name most of our fish, as an easy way of identifiying what we one are talking about. just a few of the names are Mac - Golden nugget plec (chicken MACnuggets) Will - Roya plec (Prince Will from the UK) Zeb - Zebra Plec Sam - Red taled black shark Itsy and bitsy - dwarf puffers I know its a bit silly, but hey... |

Since I started the post I might as well say what my fish are named. I actualy only have one named fish left, all my others have died in mass death incidents (see ohter posts). I have a 5 inch Dojo Loach named Houdini because the day I got him I thought that he escaped from the tank. I couldn't find him anywhere. I checked under the substrate and everything. Turns out he had buied himself directly under my amason sword, the one place I didn't check. He is my only surviving fish that I have had since day one, and he is a pain in the rear. But he is my favorite fish too.

Only if they present behavior that demands a name. I have a pictus cat that acts like he's a meth head and a flying fox that my daughter named.

Nope. Most of my fish are shoaling fish so it's hard to tell.
I call my cons, "The Male con" and "The female con"
