Ocean Floor
You can check it out at: http://www.oceanfloorstore.com/
It's located at 3247 W. Thomas Road Phoenix, Arizona 85009. Even though their service isn't fantastic, they have a wide variety of freshwater fish. You have to pick out your fish though, because they'll sometimes try and sell you the "unhealthy" fish. They also carry saltwater fish, but i've never taken a good look at their stock. They also take unwanted fish, whether they got too big for your aquarium or you're just looking to lower your amount of fish. They will usually offer you a store credit. Has anyone ever been to this store? Last edited by AzFishKid; 01-01-2011 at 02:55 AM.. Reason: Floor not Foor.. |

I was in this store two weeks ago. It is huge, and they have some impressive show fish that you just won't find other places.
However, they are more than just a little overpriced on just about everything I looked at. Fish, rocks, food, filters... the whole nine yards. I think they only reason to buy there is because Phoenix Tropical Fish didn't have what you were looking for. -- Jim |

I feel that the Ocean Floor has declined in quality over the years. Last time I was in, they had a big batch of "rainbow cichlids" on sale, which turned out, of course, to be a bunch of dyed blood parrots. A few of them even had little phrases or hearts tattooed onto their sides. I haven't been back since. I live less than a block away on Thomas, and I'll make the drive to Pets, Inc. for healthier stock.

If you can, try and change the title of the post to be FLOOR, instead of FOOR.
Ocean Floor is by far the largest fish store in PHX, yet they have very little livestock. I was there once and saw them selling the tattooed fish that said I <3 (heart) u, on them. That is not something I feel like supporting. Store is mostly hardware that is overpriced. I also remember their plants all being in pots like Petsmart/Petco. I wonder if they are even aquatic. I haven't been in a while due to high prices and poor selection.

I went there today .... was very excited to find such a huge store but was really disappointed in the quality. I found some poorly maintained tanks and sick fish...The products where very over priced some by hundreds of dollars. I looked around and it looks like the place was once a great fish store, and it has so much great potential.

Really? I was just in there today too... And I was disappointed as always. I always go there expecting to see something new, but time after time I've been let down.
This review was written a long time ago, so certainly things have changed (unfortunately, for the worse). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I lived in PHX for ten years and agree totally, the Oceans Floor is great when you are in a pinch because it has everything you could think of but they charge sooo much. I've definitely shopped there more than a couple times and then gone on the interweb to buy what I liked at a bargain price.
If you are looking for livestock, there is a small privately owned place up just north of camelback and I want to say 16th street (I've been back in Maine for 2 yrs so my memory could be better on this). It's in a neighborhood and behind a apt building, really terribly placed. But the woman who owns the place rocks and they usually have a bunch of great fish in.

Fins and Friends, I think it's called? I want to check it out, but they are closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Now that I google it, it was Phoenix Tropical Fish at 37th St just north of Thomas. Honestly, now that I'm in Maine, I'd take even oceans floor considering the lfs' around here..
