finnex LED vs aqualife T5 high output

For the past few months, I have been looking for cheaper lighting system that wont constantly cost me $44 dollars a visit every 6 months to my local pet store. After about 5 or 6 months my t5ho bulbs tented to dim rather quickly. This is occurring now and I am wondering if investing a finnex ray2 and finnex planted + lighting system would get me into the mid to high lighting range.

Lighting Fixture -Aqualife dual 24" 48 watt T5HO

Tank Size ---------20 gallon high with a 3 inch dry fert substrate and 1 inch layer of black sand on top (4 inch substrate)

Plants
dwarf hair grass
telanthera, rosaefolia
green and red crypts.
red cabomba
tilted red ludwigia

Dosing
liquid Co2
seachems flourish

Does any one think I would maintain or even brighten my tank with just the finnex ray 2 and/or finnex planted +?

You may have as much as 90 PAR light intensity with the T5HO light. That is a lot of light! A Finnex Ray2 should give you about 65 PAR by itself. The Planted plus might give you an additional 50 PAR.

Would you say it is a good investment for LEDs or would you suggest me to stay with my original lighting?

Going 2 planted plus, you will beak even in 2 years.. ($160) but arguably better color.
A buildmyled single will cost almost 2x that ($219 or 239) andd eventually, if you so choose you can add the dimmer/timer.. which is not available w/ Finnex anything..

rayII plus planted plus would run $168 Amazon..

The "new kid on the block" Marineland would go for $200 but all bells and whistles are attached...well timer.. no dimmer
