Hey everybody,
I am building a 20gal Long planted tank, my very first aquarium. I love the way that red flourite looks on the bottom of the tanks in the gallery, and have done alot of looking around, and the cheapest place I have found it is at big als online, at 22 USD a bag with shipping. Does anybody know a cheaper place I can buy flourite at? I need 2 bags, and I would like to spend under $20 a bag if possible. If I cant, I will have to compromise and go with eco-complete at the LFS.

I think they are under $20 at bigals and petwarehouse. It's just the extra shipping cost that make it expensive. Eco-complete is more expensive than flourite at Petwarehouse and at my lfs.

BigAl's is running a special of 10.99 a bag for flourite. Though supposedly there is extra shipping costs so I don't know what it would come out to.

I have seen flourite go "cheap", but still, the shipping is through the roof! In many cases, the shipping is more expensive than the product!

I've read a couple journals on this forum where 120+ pounds of eco-complete/flourite was used  .

Well, looks like als is the cheapes online, I was going to buy my filter from them anyways so I guess I'll just do it all at once. Wow, 2 bags for 30$ is a steal! Wish I lived up there!

at aquatic-store.com it is $12.90, but he charges his actual costs to ship.. so it may work out a little better than big als. worth emailing to ask.

I neede 14 bags and it just so happened a friend of mine needed 6. I just called and asked what kind of price they could give me for 20 bags and I was shocked but happy when she gave me the price.

Ok, this solution will probably work, since you don't live next to everyones low price LFS.

Print $10.99 ad from Big Als and take it to petsmart (providing they have fluorite). There policy is to match the price...they did it for me.
