@ hidden walrus. i too recently purchased a golden nugget pleco from the arc. i put it in my q tank for three weeks no signs of anything so into my main tank he went. about a week after adding him to my main tank my columbian tetras had a huge outbreak of anchor worms. managed to save all but one with treatment. what a pain in the ass. im not for sure if thats where the worms came from but that was the latest fish added to my tank in almost 3 months.

Im down by laporte so its a bit of a drive for me. can anyone tell me where the coral reef store is you guys keep talking about in valpo??

The Coral Reef is on calumet ave. right after the point where morgan blvd. turns into calumet when heading from downtown valpo. They also have a website with their hours if you google search it since I don't think linking it is allowed.

Well this kinda scares me, I bought a bristlenose pleco from the Ark a couple days ago, and some of his poop is pretty stringy(aka not normal).

Coral reef is on Calumet, in between Bush St. and Evans Ave.
Its in like a mini strip mall.

currently in the the tank
one stripped raphel cat
10 black neons
5 columbian tetras
4 kulhi loaches

also looking for some bushy type plants to fill in a few "bare" open areas in the backcorner of tank. something easy as its a low main tank. one corner i have a huge tiger lily that is huge but like the way it hides my filter intake. looking for something to fill the other side near my heater.

Chesterton here, folks! Love the Ark, glad to have Pet Haven near, but equipment prices too high and no turnover on chemicals. Need to try the Valpo places.
I've got a 55gal fresh, mostly tetras and danios. Using low-tech EI approach with 130w lighting.

Looking for some plants, especially foreground low carpet cover. Ideas?

Any aquarium groups in the area?

The Coral Reef in valpo has good prices. I'm picking up a 4x3 of dwarf baby tears later today for only 5.50. Small store, but they will get anything for you, very nice, GREAT customer service. I was in there once and they kept the store open for me while I did some shopping (I had no idea that it was past the closing time). Great people there.

It is great to see another another active person on here from the area . I haven't found any freshwater aquarium groups around here, there is the GCCA in the Chicago area though.

I completely agree, they all very nice. Some of my fish came from there too and they do well. There may still be a couple bunches of proserpinaca palustris left that I had ordered in a couple weeks ago, it is a great looking stem plant .

Good looking plant! How hard are those to grow? I just started dosing excel a few days ago but plants are already loving it. Would love to have more variety in my tank.

So far it has been very easy for me to grow. The old leaves have been dying off and the new growth comes in looking really nice. It does like CO2, but it isn't the fastest growing plant (which is actually nice). The leaf style is really unique and so are the colors depending on what it shows.

The Coral Reef's supplier list does have some interesting plants show up from time to time, but there is a minimum quantity order of each plant from the supplier .

Anyway, here's mine after a few weeks of having it, and about the closest representation of how it looks in person. I am still toying with my dosing of iron and dry ferts to see how the colors come out.
