Fish ID - the Hitchhiking Gar(ra).

I got a hitchhiker on a plant I purchased today. It was a rather large Italian Val so I'm assuming he just hitched a ride, lol.

Anywho, it looks like a sort of catfish or loach. I wasn't able to get great pictures of it, since he keeps moving around and around and around - ow, my head.

Here they are - he does tend to go on the wall nibbling for algae or some such. Halp!

Looks like a bumble bee catfish to me but I don't know for sure...

Hmm... I don't think it's dark enough to be a bumble bee. We'll see once it settles down more, though.

SCORE! Looks similar to a hillstream loach but without the pectorals. Try one of the loach sites and see if you see anything like it on there. I'd go back to the store and buy a few. Cool looking fish. All I ever get on my plants are snails...

x2 on some type of fastwater loach, I don't think I've ever seen another quite like it though!

it's a garra

Garra flavatra possibly.

not related to loaches at all.. Maybe a distant cousin.. They just evolved to look like a loach because they live in the same environment.

Hahaha, I know. xD Good times. It's soooo cute, too. Feeding time in the bottom feeder tank is such a blast. :3

Hi I know this is an older post but, how is your Panda Garra doing. I can't find much about their eating habits. Where they sell them they rave they are great algae eaters. What is your like? I think the Panda is the best looking of Garra Sp.

Nice! They're at least 20$ each where I am, in the land of high prices.
