Can anyone tell me what causes the diatoms that come when a tank is just set and also, what makes them go away as well?? Thanks-

Are these real?
|
Many algae appear due to imbalances. New tanks are notoriously imbalanced, and go through cycles of different algae. With a little patience they usually disappear all by themselves, only to be replaced by the next type, until the tank is "established".
