Mail run on Fat Tuesday?

Does anyone know if the mail runs on Fat Tuesday, specifically in Baldwin County, AL. I couldn't find anything on the USPS website about it, but its not very well organized. I'm just hoping my reg shows up tomorrow, but if mail doesn't run, well, I'm gunna be....you know.

And BTW, I've lived in this part of Alabama all my 21 years, and in Baldwin County for 17 of those. I've never paid attention to whether mail runs or not, and apparently my mom hasn't either.

It's not a federal holiday, so the mail will run.

I got my shrimp today, granted I'm up north.

The mail may run, but it may not be the best that day down where you are. I've got relatives down there as well so yeah.

Did you get it?

Hey now, just because everything down there stops for Fat Tuesday, doesn't mean the rest of the world stops too.

Some people may find this useful. Mail will run every normal mail day except for Federal Holidays which are:
  • New Year's - January 1 (observed Friday if falls on a Saturday, Monday if on a Sunday)
  • Martin Luther King Day - 3rd Monday of January
  • President's Day - 3rd Monday of February
  • Memorial Day - Last Monday in May
  • Independence Day - July 4th (observed Friday if falls on a Saturday, Monday if on a Sunday)
  • Labor Day - 1st Monday in September
  • Columbus Day - 2nd Monday in October
  • Veteran's Day - November 11th (observed Friday if falls on a Saturday, Monday if on a Sunday)
  • Thanksgiving - 3rd Thursday in November
  • Christmas - December 25th (President occasionally gives federal Employees Christmas Eve off, usually depending on how it falls, but this does not affect mail delivery.)

I'm working off of memory, but I believe this list to be correct. States and Counties may have other holidays which they observe in addition to these (such as Fat Tuesday in Mobile and New Orleans, where I suspect that even in Federal offices non-essential services may be allowed to slide on out the door early by sympathetic managers,) but again, they will not affect mail delivery. Only "official" Federal holidays do.

Thanks. VJ Day wouldn't be Federal, though. State maybe?

Yeah its state holiday. We're the only state that still celebrates it. I'm sure there are other state holidays depending where you go. I can't imagine trying to deliver mail on fat Tuesday in New Orleans

I always thought it was a joke more or less. Then when I was volunteering at the Senior Center this summer, my opinion changed.
