Good LFS or club in SW Florida?
Hey,
I'm in Naples, SW FL- anyone know of any decent LFS or aquatic clubs in the area? I'm not too thrilled with any of the stores I've gone through yet... and haven't found a single club yet? Thanks!!! |

New to this site. Also a Naples resident trying to network with some people to trade plants. perhaps we should make a Naples club!

I haven't found a club in the area.
I also use Boardroom to get all my fish from. I will pick up other items from other places, if the price is right. Rich at Boardroom is the only one I've found in the area that really knows his stuff and I learn more everytime I talk with him. I've had them not sell fish to me because they didn't like the look of the fish (pleco's because belly was not full so it wasn't eating and others that appeared to have ick or something, said to check back in a week, and they held them). They take personal interest in their livestock which is great. This is a bit of a drive from Naples thought.

Naples here also. Boardroom Aquatics in Fort Myers is the best (maybe only) planted tank LFS around. The two LFS left in Naples, The Naples Fish Store and Fish Central aren't any good for freshwater plants. The Naples Fish Store is all salt now and Fish Central has been bought by a couple of kids who aren't that knowledgeable and have let the place go downhill.
Amazing Pets in North Naples knows what they're doing with fish, less so with plants. Beyond that there's PetSmart, not too bad, PetCo, total disaster for fish and Pet Supermarket, which is decent but cut way back on fish. There's also a pet store in Golden Gate I haven't been to in years that used to have some decent fish but no plants. I don't have a lot of time for a club but I would like to see one locally. Jeff |

Hey this was one of my first threads!
Yeah, Boardroom is where I've gotten most of my fish. I've been to Amazing Pets but haven't gotten anything there yet... they don't QT their fish first, which concerns me a bit, even though I always QT for another 4 weeks min anyways... We need to organize a get-together one of these days!

Hey Laura,
I was actually just down in naples for vacation, and I went to the Naples fish store, (http://naplesfishstore.com/), although they were just beginging to set up they seemed pretty promising. Although I believe they are primarily a SW fish store, I would check them out if you are driving in the area. I think it is domestic ave off of airport-pulling? dont take my word for it though. -thestranger66

Maybe we should keep this thread going as a way to post info and things in our area. This way people can subscribe and get updates.

didn't someone down in the Ft Myers Naples area mention there a a few LFS in the Area?
If so and if during your travels if you happen to stop in n them, could anyone see if they can locate some SAE's, am looking for 4 or so. No one up here has any, heck one place in Venice looked at me like i had a third eye when i asked.

Yes, oto's are hard to find. I got 5 a week of so ago when they come in (straight from the shipping bag) and I lost 2 of them. Before that, I had gotten 5 small ones (3/8 inch) and my rainbows throught they were fishy treats.

was able to pick up 3 oto's thursday, one couldnt even make the trip home, But so far the other two seem just fine. Kuluii Loaches also just came in early Friday, but have not been able to go pick them up.
I would normally just opt out on the SAE's, except i really want some. Let me know if anymore show up down there, i would make the drive for them
