SAE growth rates...?

HI all, just wondering how quickly a 2" long SAE will grow because i need one for an algae problem but i only have a 12g tank so i dont want to keep a big fish in their long, i plan to return him to the LFS...

Mine grew from about 1.5'' to 3'' in about 6-9 months. When properly fed, these guys do grow very quickly.

What kind of algea do you have? Could you possibly get yourself a few shrimp to deal with it?

Thanks mario,,,Its blue green hair algae, i will try shrimp aswell but i hear good things about the destruction of algae by SAE...
