iron in flourite

is the amount of iron in flourite enough to not need to dose iron as a supplement? How long would a 15lb bag of flourite last in a 10g tank as an iron source?

I can't answer that specific question, but you would ( or should) be dosing micro nutrients and most all of those solutions include enough iron anyway.

If this is for a high tech/high light/fast growth tank I'd say you will need to dose some iron anyway. It also depends on the kind of plants. Many stem plants appreciate some nutrients including iron in the water column. For ex I grew Pearlweed in Flourite and it turned yellow without some additional iron/micro supplementing.

Seachem says that Flourite has 18500 mg of iron...unless I read the chart wrong. Try reading the Flourite FAQ:
