Most of these units are not designed to run that way.. these filters are designed to run at extremely high pressure, something you can't really achieve with a basic pump... You'd either get no flow through the modules or you would burn out your pump.
If you are trying to build a modular filter system you might want to consider looking at modules by Pentair Aquatics (Rainbow-Lifeguard) or Ocean Clear. However, given the cost, you might be better off to supplement your filtration with a smaller canister filter.

I'm assuming you are trying to build this project:
http://www.aquaticsbykr.com/DIYCanisterFilter.htm That doesnt actually look too bad... I'd check out your local hardware store and many other plumbing outlets... If you can find a module that works like the ones this guy used, all the power too ya! Looks like it might be fun.

Check out RandelB over at Simplydiscus.com - he is one of the global moderators over there and also sells RO equipment and parts (at super prices from what I can gather) - the link above goes directly to a super post he did on how a RO unit works and is put together etc... great photo's too.

yeah its that project, i disagree on the pump situation, as it would be gravity fed, well depending on how i fit the pump to the system, then again i could allways use a central heating pump and ball valve
