Overstocked?

My tank currently :

15 gallon / 60 litres
Moderately planted

6 Zebra Danios (Greedy buggers)
6 Cherry Barbs (Surprisingly shy)
1 Male Betta (Who is fine)

Also there are 5 Ghost Shrimp that will be removed soon because they don't do squat. They just putter around doing nothing in particular except preen themselves .

Can I add 6 Neon Tetras? Or 6 Rummynose Tetras? There is plenty of swimming room I just don't want to crowd the tank. Also because the Danios are making the Barbs terrified by harassing them (since the Barbs don't school much and the Zebras do)so I'd like to take the pressure off them with another school of fish.

are you over filtered?
I hope you are
IMO it is better to go with one larger school than a mix match.
fish school when they are stressed.
why remove the shrimp?

Over-filtered? I suppose so... the filter is meant for a much larger aquarium. It's a Hang on Back or HOB.

Danios are natural schoolers? I don't know but they break up and swim around then come back especially when it's time to eat. Maybe more Barbs would do the trick, they seem really scared and stressed.

As I said, they don't do anything, just swim around. The female is worse, she doesn't move much.

I would advise against adding more fish. Ghost shrimp are not really supposed to be huge algae eaters. Also, algae eaters in general don't do that much.

Why not take the barbs out and trade them in for more Danios?

Hm. The Shrimp aren't there to eat algae. I don't have any algae at all. Mainly there for aesthetic value but they're getting moved out to the 'shrimp tank' soon and replaced by 2 or 3 of those small red shrimp.

LFS around here don't do 'trade ins'. Pity, I wonder why. They've never heard of trading in fish either. It's buy it, you're stuck with it. Otherwise I would have given back about 15 Ghost Shrimp I'm stuck with.

Bad news guys. 3 Barbs down, 1 MIA. 2 moved to another tank. Ammonia 0 ppm, NitrIte 0 ppm. I don't have a NitrAte test. Must have been stress or sickness. 3 look like they had ich and 1 kept floating upside down.

I guess now I can add the tetras my dad has been bugging me to get. I hope they don't disturb my Betta. Are Rummy-noses fast? My Danios are hyper and they hassle fish that are slower than them except the Betta.
