Tiger Barbs

What types of fish would go good with tiger barbs besides other tiger barbs?

Also, what would go good with black ruby barbs?

I keep Yo-yo loaches and a gold gourami (~4 inches long) with my 8 tiger barbs. A good match on the aggression scale.

Tetras, zebra danios, and cories are some good tankmates for tiger barbs.

IME, One of the important things to remember is that the larger the school of Tiger barbs, the less aggressive they tend to be.

i find that 12 is the magic number. they swim everywhere together. i've kept 22 before that but they scatter and bother other fish.

they even made my 7 hengelis jumped

I have a tiger barb species tank and I do truly think they are best enjoyed as a single species.

yes they're :
- non stop swimmer
- enjoyable to watch
- not shy
- will follow you everywhere around the tank
- have great appetite for food
- hardy fish
- dare to nip at my hand while planting
- stare back at you when you're watching

but,
does anyone know if these tigers will nip and damage plant leaves?

My tigers never touch my plants but they bite me non-stop when my arm is in the tank. They also nipped all my corys to death :-( I think they might get evicted soon...
