I figured on the calculator how much flourite to buy for a 90 gallon (said 90 lbs) so I ordered it and on the bag of flourite (l5 1/2 lbs) it says it will do 2" in a 10 gallon. Why the difference?? I hope I have enough- :?

So far the calculator has been pretty close so as long as you put in the proper tank dimensions it should be OK. You must have ordered 100lbs (5 - 20 lb Bags ?) so you should get the extra 10 lbs.over what it claims you need as a buffer.
Please let us know how you make out as the calculator is still fairly new.

Hi
It says I need 600+ punds of Eco Complete for my 55 gallon tank? I may be wrong but that sounds like an also lot of pounds and money. My tank dimesions are 20 DEPTH 48 length 13 WIDTH Depth I did form top to bottom of tank Length I did from West to East of tank (left to right) and Width I did North to South of tank Is this right |

Well, according to the calculator, you would need 13 lbs. of Flourite to make a 2" deep bed in a ten gallon. A standard 10 gallon is 20x10 inches, whereas a standard 90 is 48x18 inches. So...200 square inches and 864 square inches. If you wanted 2" in your tank you'd need about 60 lbs. If you want 3 inches you need about 90 lbs like the calculator said. HTH

I know on the bag of flourite, it says 1 bag is good for 10gallons...and it's assuming a normal tank, not a hex, not a long.
I can tell you that I've already put 5.5 bags of flourite, plus 15lbs of pea gravel in my standard 75gallon (48"x18"x20") and I still don't have enough depth in all areas. Eco-complete is the same way...teh bag weighs more, but it's packed with a lot of liquid...it's really the same weight as the florite. So, really, you'd want 9 bags.

9 bags? I think that'd be way too much, 7 should be just fine. Her tank has the same footprint as yours.

I bought 6 bags and had to drive over an hour to get it so probably wont go back. Buck, flourite bags are 15 1/2 lbs each not twenty. Its a weird amount of weight I think too. Anyways, I have the 6 bags in and it is about 2" deep, is that going to be enough?? I can add gravel but I hate to after spending all the money (130.00) so I could do 100% flourite. :? Is 2" deep enough??
I did pick 3" deep on the calculator and it came up 90 lbs I needed and I have 93 and it is only about 2" at the most.... |

On my 77 with a 48" x 16" (approx) dimensions I used 7 bags of flourite.
The weight of a bag of Flourite is 7 kilograms (for us Canucks:-)
