New to's my initial game plan

I've been in to saltwater for a year and a half and decided to try a planted tank. I have a 15G with 3 watt leds. As was the case with salt tanks there seems to be alot of different opinions with fresh I'm find out. I am just getting the substrate underway and have 1.25" of Miracle Grow Organic Potting Soil in the tank. Now I'm see talk about mineralizing first which I think is the right way to go so I'll take the dirt out and do that first. Then I will add the clay (I bought natural clay but it's terra cotta - should have decent iron, etc. content but maybe not as good as red - not sure). Then topping off with an inch or more of fine gravel. So far so good? Suggestions?

On the right track. Look into CO2 and EI/PPS dosing if you haven't. If you are sticking with root feeders you can get away with not using ferts but I have found a big boost in overall plant health and algae control using them.
