Just some pictures, scape not quite done

Hey,

I'm just posting some pictures of one of my tanks. I am still working on the scape, so it's not final, but it's about 3/4 where I'd like it to be. I might eventually make a journal out of it, but most likely I'll keep it as a picture collection.

Playing around with some post picture processing:

Very nice! What plants are in the second picture from the top?

  1. Then why didn't you post this in the photograph section
  2. Looks finished to me. Looks great
  3. Wish you would make it a journal. I would like to know the size of the tank, your lights and plants.

This is a fantastic tank! I wouldn't mind knowing your set up either

Good question about the photograph section. It hadn't occurred to me. I think eventually I wanted to make a journal out of it, but currently, I'm simply swamped at work and have no time. I'll add more pictures later. I'm not quite happy with the right blyxa yet, it doesn't seem to take off as much or quickly as I had hoped. Also, there is some growing in to do by the crypts, which are currently melting back a bit. Tank is a 17 gal from Germany and lights are 2 HOT5 bulbs at 6500K but those are all the specs I remember off the top of my head.

That is a form of bolbitis, but I'm not sure which. Got it at a local aquarium auction and liked the look and I think it fit well so I added it.

Looks better than my tanks, I think you could make a journal out of it!

Already looks well thought out and put together.

Great work.

Nice tank, I like your lay-out and am curious how its developed. How's it looking now? I'm particularly curious how the Bolbitis looks. I'm interested since a number of people, myself included, believe that there are two different forms of B. heudolti that are commonly circulating within the aquarium trade. One has much lengthier fronds, which I believe is the original B. heudolti that was introduced to the aquarium trade a long time ago, but nowadays there appears to be a form that stays lower and develops shorter, bushier fronds. I used to believe that this was likely due to differences in water parameters, and aquarium conditions, (lighting, fertilization, level of co2 injection if any, and the plants positioning in the tank in relation to the flow of the water), but I now believe that the two different kinds may have to do with a slight genetic variation, possibly due to differences in collection location of wild plants.
