Aquarium Hobby Meetings?

I wanted to know if anybody knew of any meeting for fish clubs in new york city. I know there is no more betta club and the guppy club is too far. and does anybody know where i can get wild bettas?

The Brooklyn Aquarium Society. Check the out on google. I believe they're the oldest fish club in America.

Yea i know i didn't some looking up on them but they only have a few groups and most of there groups are fish that i don't care for. Thanks though. I know the closest betta club in in penn and ct

Or a Planted Tank club, Like all the other states

So whats good Frozen Barb you trying to start something for new york? We too big of a city to not have anything

Honestly, It took some very serious guys to do a lot of scouting for other members, and leg work to put NJAGC together. And I'm glad they did.

Thats cool but i think new york is due for a club. its rediculous how we don't have anything for a city this big. i can see a colorado not having one but they have plenty and new york has hummmm.......... none. i've been trying to come up with a club for nyc so we don't have to travel all the way to nj, penn or upstate 8 hours for a 1 hour meeting.

Well not much i could do im still in high and dont have a car, BUt if everyone in NEwyork wants to do this. I guess someone makes a club, OR at least a swap Meeting or plant sell meeting

There are only 2 NYC clubs that I know of:
The Brooklyn Aquarium Society
Greater City Aquarium Society (NYC Area).


Someone needs to Step-up, and if there is an interest, it will grow. Hell, If I'm allowed (I was born & lived in the the Bx. until 6 years ago), I'd check it out and maybe join. Just don't start any planted tank gang wars!


And FWIW, our meetings are ~3-4 hours, and usually within 30 minutes of the GW (with no traffic haha).

IMO, it'll be great if we have a NYCAGC(new york city aquatic gardener's club). I'm sure some hobbyist before us had tried and attempt what's being discussed here but all had failed to continue due to one single factor...NYC
We live in New York CIty!! The city where a "minute" here cost more than an "hour" to most if not all other major cities in the country.

I don't mean to pour water on your fire, I'd love to have an Aquatic Gardener's club in the city, it'd be awesome. It's just that this is probably the most hectic city in the country if not in the world. And people really deprive themselves of leisure time and hobbies...sad...
