Any experiences with staghorn algae?

I have been fighting staghorn algae in my high light planted tank for about a month now and I dont see any visible signs of it lessening. It seems the major problem with this particular type of algae is that there is very very little information to be found anywhere on the net. You can type in a search and come upon the very same description over and over again. Basically I would just like to know if anyone else has had any experiences with this particular algae. It is the only type of algae present in my tank. It seems to like to affix itself to the gravel surrounding my glossostigma foreground. I have physically removed it by whirling a toothbrush countless times. The only problem I could see is that my po4 is a little high at the moment (1.5ppm --no3 10ppm). But that alone I dont think is the problem......

I had a small outbreak of staghorn.

I had to remove it manually. I removed the infested leaves of the plant that had the algae. I then worked to get things in balance.

I had a problem wtih it until recently i removed it manually and I think that my SAE's also helped on the new growth. I found it easy to remove with my fingers.

It's loving my 20g long. Pretty much on everything

Neither my Otos nor Amano shrimp will touch it.

Staghorn is one of those algaes that goes away easily, by itself even, when you get the tank in balance. It's not the same frustrating battle that people have with black brush algae or green water, and it doesn't stink like blue green algae so people rarely talk about it. Get your P under 1 ppm, keep your NO3 around 10, and keep up with the micros and K additions as needed and it will go away. Just don't expect it to go away in a week, it might take a month for it to give up.

Yeah, I let my DIY CO2 run out, and lack on the ferts... serves me right.

Getting ready for pressurized CO2 & DIY mixed ferts soon though.
