Hi
I want to know waht kind of substrate is best to use for a semi planted tank and is also good for bottom dwellers... I heard that pool sand was ok but then heard that gravel was best? Please if you can help me out Thanks |

It's really up to you and what type of look you want, I perfer gravel. You can go with Eco-complete which needs no rinsing, Flourite which needs a lot of rinsing or a small natural gravel. Or you can use a combo of two different types like sand and gravel.

What do you mean by semi-planted ?
If you wanted to grow some ferns or moss in your tank you actually wouldnt need any gravel at all. But most plants need a good substrate to grow healthy, even if there is only a few of them in the tank...
