Im getting some ghost shrimp for my 25 gal tank. I have 6 in my ten gallon, and cant decide if that enough or too many...I am thinking i will get twelve for the 25 gallon. Is this too many? not enough?

Ghost shrimp don't accomplish much, IMO, and tend to be dinner for even moderate sized fish.
OTOH, amano shrimp are wonderful and I suggest about 1 per 5 gallons with a couple to spare in case they walk out of the tank at first or one should die unexpectedly. I often found the new shrimp would climb into the HOB filter, hoping to return to their old home I suspect. "Upstream, I'm sure the old place is upstream, follow me!" |

When you buy ghost shrimp make sure you check them out for parasites. Last time I bought some 2 had tapeworm looking things in their abdomen.

Are these real?

IMO ghost shrimps are great scavengers. True, they don't eat hair algae etc, but they are busy all day going over the substrate to find any uneaten fish food, dying plants, whatnot. They even nibble on fishpoop.
Kinda hard to give a quantity recommendation. Depends on how much you feed your fish. I have two in a 10 gal, and since I feed sparingly, I need to make sure they don't starve to death. All depends...

I just recently got some ghost shrimp for my 80 gallon planted tank and they all die after a couple of weeks. I think they starved to death. Any methods to feeding them and keeping them alive?

Are ghost shimp good in a community tank?
I have a few dozen mixed tetras, ottos, a pleco or 2, in my 70. Shrimp sould like a fun addition, but I don't want them to become dinner. |

It doesn't sound like you have anything that would try and eat them.
