It's been up and running for a long time, but this is when I start posting

Current stock: 2 Angel Fish (not sure what species), 5 golden barbs, 3 cherry barbs, 1 common pleco, 1 green tiger botia, and the occasional pond snail that the botia has overlooked.

Plants: Java Fern, scattered stem plants (I think bacopa), Cabomba. I hope to be adding more, since this is pretty basic.

Filtration: Aquaclear 200, Aquaclear mini IF needed, Hagen 201 quickfilter as CO2 reactor pump.

Lighting: 2 x 20W plant&aquarium, 2 x 15W Grow-Lux

That's it for now...

Like the school of barbs, nice coloration. Do they get along okay with the Angels?

They get along perfectly. Pretty much the only signs or anything were that the angels sometimes get spooked by the barbs swimming too close.

However, they are swimming at the surface, a lot, being very dosile. Thinking of taking them back. (the angels) Also, my botia enjoys to chase them *SIGH* :x

I have had the same golden barb for 2 years now. It has a deformed tail.

UPDATE: the damn botia has killed one. So much for that... it's my fault for trusting it with such sluggish fish.

Ok the angelfish went back to the store, due to the botia's bullying, which I am addressing lately, and today I came home with two lovely butterfly cichlids I'll get pics up soon!

If the tiger loach could bully angelfish to death, what makes you think butterfly cichlids will fair any better? Keep an eye on them. A tiger loach is not the wisest choice for a typical community setting...

Hey cich. Nice presentation. Sorry to hear about your loss. You must love loaches because, personally, I would can the loach and keep the angels . About 10 years ago, I had a skunk loach that had to go. His mischief started with just a bit of nibbling on my angels pelvic fins, but soon turned into full-blown 'clicking' assaults. I don't think that any fish has ever made me as angry as that stupid loach...... not because of the damage he did to my angels (they healed up soon enough), but because of the difficulty I had netting that little turd.*

*I have since designed a 'fish trap' to catch elusive 'criminals'. Works similar to a minnow trap; you bait it, and then let the fish catch themselves.

I hear ya. Wow, if they were clicking, that must have done some damage! Yeah, I do like loaches... WHEN they behave. I'm making sure it gets enough food lately, and he seems to be minding his own business more. Maybe that was it :?

I've turned this tank into a fish-only tank and moved all my plants to a 10gal., where I can actually get 4.5wpg I'll start a post on that as soon as I have pics.
