Fert dosing with the LED+

Im sure this may well be a silly question but, meh. Friday I get my new lovely fixture in. This is considered a down grade because currently I have a 4 x T5HO fixture over my 40 breeder.

Right now I dose ferts via the EI method. I am just curious if I will need to add less or can I leave it as is? As for the plants I am sure they will all grow in the lower lighting as I do not have any real demanding plants and am actually trying to create a better environment for my wilds. Mr Grump is no fan of the bright light and neither is my Barclaya longefolia.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Oh and another question. On the sunrise and sunset, does it work without the ramp timer? Just curious because the sudden click of the light on does make Grump a bit jumpy and fade for a few seconds.

If you have kits for nitrate & phosphate, you might want to cut back somewhat on your ferts and test a couple times a week to get a feel for how it's going to go. Depends a lot on how heavily planted you are, CO2, fish load, etc.

My 40 breeder with LED+ only occasionally needs a little bit of KNO3 to hold nitrate at 10ppm. I dose a tiny bit of phosphate and some potassium twice a week, iron & micros every other day. I've got a pretty good fish load and am moderately planted.

Nope, the stock sunset setting doesn't do a fade, you need the add-on ramp timer (or an Arduino controller) for that.

I use EI as a guide for dosing on my tank with two Satellite + fixtures; however, I target the low end. So far, so good. The only real nuisance growing in the tank is diatoms (which is to be expected). Algae levels are minimal to none.

I use EI as well. With lower light, you can typically cut N out without problems. P is usually the limiting nutrient in our planted tanks so I would be more careful with that or ramp down a little at a time.

Ok so I will decrease the dosages. Should I still do every day like I was or cut out a few days too? I was skipping one day, doing my waterchanges that day. Plants seemed to really enjoy it.

I would personally cut down the daily dosages but still dose everyday.
