Where to shop?
I live in central NC (Piedmont/Traid area) and buy most of my plants and fish from Aquamains. I also shop at Petsmart and have bought a few plants and fish from them. I got my true SAE's from Infinity pets in the raleigh area and bought my Yo-Yo loaches from Fintastics in Charlotte.
Does any one know of any other good fish/plant stores in the state of NC,SC,VA?

You can try Petland at Friendly center for general items, or try Aquarium Shop on High Point Rd across from the Habitat for Humanity Store... although I am pretty sure the Aquarium Shop is only saltwater.

Triangle Tropical Fish, in durham nc, is not too bad, I got some nice plants and driftwood from them, and they had a nice selection of fish there. Cherry shrimp also, which I haven't seen locally anywhere else. They have directions at their website, triangletropicalfish.com ( I think that's it, just google it if it doesn't show up)

Thanks, I have been looking for Cherry shrimp for a long time. I e-mailed them to see if they have any in stock. If they do I will take a trip there next sunday.

I'm from the Durham area and we have quite a few great stores. There's Triangle Tropical and Fish World on Capital Blvd in Raleigh. If you're into saltwater, there's a new place called Aquarium Concepts on Garret St in Durham and Aquatic Escape in Raleigh. If freshwater is your thing, definitely hit Triangle and Fish World.

I'd say call them, I don't think they keep up with the web site portion of their biz, I joined their newsletter weeks ago and never got any responses or anything. Plus the stocking list hasn't been updated since like april or something I think.

That was what I was thinking, I also signed up for there news letter.
I plan on making a day trip next saturday to the Raleigh/durham area to visit Triangle & Fish world. Even if they don't have Cherrys I still want to check out the plant and fish selection. A little off the subject but I plan on eating at Mama Dipps for lunch. I have heard a lot about this place and want to see if it is good as everyone says. Any of you guys eaten there?

I've never been to Mama Dips, Trenac -- let us know how it is. That's quite a spread out trip though. Triangle Tropical Fish is a nice set up. You may want to try Aquarium Outfitters as well (823 S. Main, Wake Forest, 919-556-8335). He doesn't have much in the way of plants, but he carries some nice fish--don't read the tags on the tanks, the lfs owner even admitted they are mislabeled often. He has a bit of an attitude (the owner) but it's a nice shop.

PG... Nice to see you on this forum too. I think I will skip Aquarium Outfitters if the owner has a attitude. I may cock my own attitude if I'm having one of those days and that would not be good. It may be a spread out trip but I like making day trips to other cities and visiting the fish stores amoung what ever else may catch my attention.
Broodingwolf... I'm from Greensboro.
