Possible problems with old Aquasoil

Lately I have been noticing my 33 long shrimp tank has been really cloudy. It has been set up for 2-3 years now with aquasoil. It doesnt appear that the aquasoil itself is breaking down but it seems it is releasing a lot of tanins. If I constantly clean my sponge filters it seems to keep the issue pretty minimal but if I let them go for 4-5 days it gets really cloudy to a point that I cant see the back of the tank. When I go to clean the sponge filters out the water coming out of them is very dark/black.

Has anyone else has similar issues?

Hello Colin, I've seen many reports of Aquasoil breaking down into dust over the course of a few years.
