Algae Grower
|
Let it float! I have HM floating in my 55 and I constantly having to take some to auctions and LFSes in order to keep it under control. It grows like crazy for me. I have 2 WPG and DIY CO2, I fert irregularly when I feel the plants need it. It is a great plant!

Planted Tank Guru

Oh, the desklight is on a tank that's already planted and I'm setting it up for shrimp, the algae one is a 10 gal that has nothing but gravel in it. It's also going through a bacteria bloom (not sure why, hasn't had fish in it for 2 weeks), but I think you're right. DIY CO2 is a good call anyway. I was asking about sunlight actually just for this month, to grow out the HM a little to have a bit more to work with when I plant my 55 gallon. Right now, it's sitting under my 2 x 55 PC in a tupperware container in my empty 55 along with a riccia rock. I'm glad that it will float though.
The way I planted it is worrying me a bit. I just lined the stems up all in one direction and spaced them apart a bit, and laid them down on the eco, then took some extra eco and laid down a line of substrate crossing the strips in a couple places. (like a tic tac toe board with the stems as horizontal lines and the substrate as vertical ones) Is this a bad idea?
