I don't know exactly what your level of expertise is, but something I would love to have (but lack the technical skill to build) would be a simple box that you could plug a series of probes into, and interfaces with a PC through a Serial, Parallel, or USB port.
This way you could have a piece of software that could monitor the probes for specific conditions.... Or could be used to plot statistical data of your fish tank. Idea's for Probes would be Ph, Temperature, Oxygen, Orp (for reefers).. you get the idea. You could either have the "box" simply collecting the data, and sending it up the data cable to the PC so the PC's software could be used to process the raw data, or you could embed some basic software into an EEPROM inside the unit itself so the data being sent to the PC is more refined... Just a thought...

a ph controller is a very good idea, i just have to find a place that can supply me ph sensors at a good price or i might butcher a cheap meter already available and turn it into a controller. Will keep you guys informed

GDominy, I really love your idea. Maybe because I'm a programmer, but it's something I'd love to see.

If we could offload the processing of the raw data onto a standard computing platform, then we could offer a significantly cheaper product, with the same functionality, but piping it through an external processor.
