ok, I have read a great bit, but having someone's experience would be good to. I have a 150XH tank which I know is 4ft wide but not sure width and height. I have a beautiful piece of driftwood that I plan to attach some Anubis too. I just pulled the trigger on a 48" Finnex ray 2 1000k; was told that is good for low to medium light tanks. Does this sound descent, my stock is at my lovely gf's discretion because all my 500 + gallon tanks are my big fish. She already has Congos and Bunoes Aires tetras and a few densions barbs. Anyway does that sound descent and what are some good plants for this setup. Also substrate is gravel

Sounds good to me.
What I would do on the substrate is dirt the bottom 2" and then sand 1" over the top of that.

Welcome to the forum fellow NC ! I'm in the triad area. I wish I would've read this before as I just tossed about 3 gallons worth of water sprite tonight (filled half of a 6gal trash can and one plant was 32" !!!). I will be important to start with a ton of plants and something like water sprite helps get a lot of plant biomass and waste uptake quickly.

Anyways looking fwd to seeing pics and if you're close enough maybe some day a plant trade !?!?
