Wild type neocaridina mated with Amano shrimp

I keep diff.types of shrimps.

A few tanks have two types of shrimps that require nearly same water parameters but do not mate.

Yesterday I fed diff.tank inhabitants frozen blood worms (thawed before feeding-its a weekly treat).
Half an hour after feeding this particular shrimp tank which has Wild type neocaridina with Amano shrimps I noticed the ritual mating dance. The neo males were circling crazily.

The amano is a young female who has never carried eggs before had a small egg sack on her back!
Suddenly one of them landed on an Amano female shrimp and mated.
She's larger compared to the male neo and tried to get him off her but wasn't successful.
I saw him mating with her for a few seconds.

I will wait and see if she has eggs under her swimerette's. Coz if she does get pregnant it will be interesting to see if the baby shrimp/larva survive and how a cross breed bet.amano and wild type neo will turn out!

Has anyone seen or heard about such interbreeding?
I will check today to see if she carries eggs from this mating.

Do you have male Amano shrimp in the tank as well? Amano and neo car. are too different in species to mate. Neos carry the eggs until the tiny fully developed shrimp hatch while Amano shrimp hatch as larvae that have to go through a larval stage in salt water in order to morph into shrimp. I don't see any way the two species could possibly cross breed. That would be like an elephant and a kangaroo crossbreeding.

I have 5 amano shrimps but I'm not sure if there is a male amano as all are young. Only one female developed an egg sack a week ago.
I have wild type neo's above 30 mostly males and they swim quicker than amano's.

May be I'll get a cross bet.elephant and a kangaroo! May be nothing will happen!

Lets wait and watch coz if she gets pregnant I'll see it within 24 hours.
I surely want to see the outcome!

I know there have been crosses with cards and neos, but I think these species would be too different.

Either way, it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

All of my shrimps swim when my female amano molts, tigers, neos, babaultis, other amanos. None have every mated with her though. And seeing as how they have to connect belly to belly I have a real hard time seeing an amano not being able to just take one of her legs and scrape a neo off due to the size difference. And that's what you saw when you say 'mated' right? Belly to belly contact? Cause I've had juveniles attempt to mate many shrimp by landing on their back and hanging on and digging in, for lack of a better phrase. Sadly they didn't get the memo that ain't how mating works.

there is no way for an amano and a neo could breed together, they are 2 different types a low order breeder (larva stage) and high order (mini adult shrimp)

I have to rethink having my dog and cat in the same house... JK

I don't think they will reproduce anything.... not to say successfully raising amano in aquarium is hard to start with.

Meanwhile the Amano female is not carrying eggs under her belly. The egg sack on her back is intack.

Shrimp don't make "egg sacks on their backs".
