DIY CO2: Disposing

Hey guys,

Not sure if there was already a post on here about this, but I just started doing DIY CO2 and was wondering where you guys dispose of the mixture after it has become essentially alcohol. I want to see what the best way to dispose of this mixture than to just pour it out in the toilet.

Let me know guys,

Thanks
-kev

There was a thread on here about drinking it. It is alcohol, and doesn't take much tweeking of your mix to make it into wine.

With OJ sounds pretty good...

But i think it'll go down the sink! Thanks for the input guys. Btw, what are your guys' CO2 mixtures that will last you over 2 weeks if possible? I just poured the first batch out and that only lasted me a week... I did 2 cups of sugar, 1 tsp of yeast, 1 tsp of baking soda and warm water.

While the initial starting CO2 production rate will be less, I would suggest starting off with less yeast (perhaps 1/2 a teaspoon).

how big is your tank? it may also be a good idea to get two of them going, off setting their start date so that you always have one bottle going at full steam.

I always toss in food scraps like stale bread or oats with the mix, I can't say for certain but it seems to last longer and put out more consistently.

My tank size is a 55 gallon but im not trying to look for crazy growth. Its more of an experiment. the mixture that i used for the 2nd batch is 2 cups sugar, half teaspoon of yeast and a teaspoon of lime. So far, it seems to be lasting longer than my first batch, but yields a lower production of co2. I will try some stale bread or food scraps next time.
