Hello,
I have 2 questions someone might be able to answer for me. I just recently gotten a Filstar XP2 from Big Als for my 29g and its been running for about a week now without any trouble. First, I have had a humming noise maybe about as loud as a computer fan and I wanted to no if this is normal. Secondly, while checking the impelar magnet to see if thier was anything wrong with it I pulled on the metal rod that goes inside it and it popped off and the little black tip was still inside the shaft until I got it out and stuck it back on. Is this normal to be able to take the cap off of the rod and the ability to pull it out of the impelar? |

Hi there, welcome to the Planted Tank!
What you are describing sounds like the way it is supposed to be. The motor of the XP2 makes a little humming noise, but it should be very minor when the pump is inside a closed cabinet/stand. You want to make sure the inflow and outflow isn't obstructed in any way, as this can make the pump work harder and increase the noise levels. Regarding the impeller, rod, caps etc, that's all how it should be working.
