I want to join the club

I am currently building my first planted tank... a 40B. I'm a technology enthusiast and so I dig the Satellite +. I really want one but I also want to try to achieve a full carpet.

That makes me think I should wait for the planted tank version of the Satellite +. However, I'm itching to start this tank. What is a techno-nerd to do?

To be honest, for starters that want to be successful in growing plants, the Satellite Plus may not be the best option simply because it grows plants fairly slow even if everything else is perfect. It requires a bit more patience as I'm sure a lot of people can attest to but the colors the light brings out in your aquarium is incredible.

It's hard to juggle nutrients, co2, lighting and deal with algae all at once so I would personally recommend the Truelumen 8000K to start out. Then when you can nail everything else easily, the Satellite plus may be a good option for a smaller, lower maintenance tank.
