Attempt on 2 feet planted

Hi guys, this is my first attempt on my biggest tank yet. Started by planting heavily from the start.

Photo shows my planted about 1 month old.

Is it a norm that one gets bored of their plants choices and hardscape after seeing other forummers' awesome pictures?

Any suggestions and comments would be appreciated!

Yep, you'll most likely make several changes until you get a look you like and that is normal. Then you'll get tired off it all together in time one day and re do the entire scape over again.

Yes I'm using a Beamswork Green Element 48W over a 16 gallon tank. Picture in iPhone it looks a tad yellowish. Not sure it's cos of the lights or the white backdrop behind.

Your attempt turned out pretty successful so far.

2 weeks now from the last update. Did some trimming, shifted some plants, and added the red stem plant on the left. Not sure what's the ID of that =/

Been awhile since I updated.

Tank is still doing well. Took out the Rotalas at the back left and planted some immature HM, hoping to get a nice sloping HM background.

I'm going on a 2 weeks holiday next month, and I intend to trim to half my current lights from 48W to 24W, and half the photoperiod duration from 6 hours to 3 hours. Intend to do a 50% water change the day I'm leaving, and do a dose as per EI.

Thing I'm worried about is
- Will the inhabitants be okay without water change for 2 weeks?
- To prevent evaporation (currently losing 1.5 liters a day with a cooling fan), I'll switch off my fan. Day time temperature will hit 30 degrees celsius.

Anyone has any advice?
