Zoomed acrylic splash guard reducing PAR?

Hello!

I just picked up a zoomed 2x T5HO 36 inch fixture for really cheap. I plopped in a few HO bulbs and it works well.

Except I'm a bit concerned about this opaque splash guard. Take a look at this:

As you can see the splash guard is defocusing the light. Is this reducing PAR? And if it is, is there a way to make a DIY splash guard?

They come with a plastic cover on the splash guard to protect from scratches prior to purchase. Have these been removed? I was worried about the same thing at first but it turned out well. I actually considered leaving side of the film on, to reduce the PAR.

Hey thanks a lot for the help. It was a plastic cover! I feel a bit dumb, hehe.
