75 Gallon Dirt - Finnex Fugeray

Hi all,

After looking around for replacement T5HO bulbs and noting their cost, I decided to look at other options. The Finnex products look great. I have a standard 75 gallon tank I plan to attempt as a low tech tank with dirt/sand cap, no co2 and low-medium light plants. Anyone think I'll have any issues using the Finnex Fugeray 48" LED fixture or is this getting to be too high of light for a low tech setup? I am still trying to wrap my head around all of the different options and their advantages, although, these lights look like a pretty good bang for your buck.

The Fudgeray will give you very low light. Check out their PAR chart. Also check the spread on the chart to see what kind of light you will get away from the center.

I saw it and it didn't look super low but those measurements are without water. How much does water decrease the intensity? Sorry I'm a n00b at using PAR to rate lights.

Maybe I should go with the Finnex Ray II DS, too bad it doesn't have moonlights but that is only a bonus for me anyways, not a deal-breaker.

I hve a ray2 8" above a 40b and a ray2 3" above a 75. Both tanks MTS with sand cap. No co2 or any other magic potions. 10% water changes 2x/week. Both tanks have lush plant growth and no algae. Love the lights and highly reccomend. I use a fuge ray over a 20b grow out tank and am going to add them to 5 20b show tanks.

Perfect! I like to see that someone has it set up and working well for them. What kind of plants are in your 75? Many stem plants?

Thanks for sharing! It's looks like a beautiful tank even with minimal maintenance. This is what I am going for!
