Flashing worm in substrate?

Hi,

I was looking at my tank today and notice white flashing in my substrate. It looked like something white and fluffy poking out of the substrate and immediately retreating back into the substrate, non stop. Its like its filter feeding thru the white stuff.

I used my turkey baster to suck it out and realize its a worm. Its a black and brown sectioned worm, its mouth opens and the white stuff comes out. Its pretty small, and when i squish it with my tweezers it is crunchy like a bug. Oh and it also has legs =<...

I have no clue what this worm is, i can't find any info on it. =( i have dosed my tank with NO planaria, hoping that it works.

Sorry i can't get a food picture =(. If anyone have any info that would be lovely.

I will reduce feeding =*(.

From your description I'd hazard a guess that it's either the larvae of water beetles or dobson/alder flies. No need to panick if that's the case...just pluck them from the tank as you spot them.

Is this what you were talking about? I was wondering the same thing. I found two of them in my tank, this one was executed with extreme prejudice and the other i found dead.

yes! but the color is different, but its probably the camera.

I think the previous poster is right, its a larva =< but apparently they are not predatory. Just gross to have it in my tank.
