vaccuming gravel with gc?

hey guys -

just started growing my first hairgrass carpet - so it's taking off, and now i'm wondering how i'm supposed to vacuum the gravel... obviously the grass would get all uprooted. if you have a good carpet do you just not vacuum at all? just do straight water changes? probably a dumb question, but i'm probably a dumb person.

No that is not a dumb question and you are not a dumb person If I was you I would just keep the hose about 2 to 3 inches above the hairgrass. The suction should still suck the junk out without uprooting the hairgrass.

disturb the water above the grass.. junk should fly up and then vacuum that.

k cool thanks for the answers... hardening substrate is not an issue here? i would think that the substrate would get real funky without it, maybe not?
