Yes!!

Another Eheim-er!

Eheim must be running some promotion now. They are packaging media as well as a couple of intake and outtake extension kits. Great deal they are running!

Rena Filstars come with a selection of output and input plastic pieces that made my sons Lego set envious.

*** Too much Eheim pimping here lately. They must have some giveaway going on, like an EHFIDISCOUNTCOUPON... ***

I asked this same question on the GWAPA web forum and then had to sit back and watch the Ehimers  tear into the poor Fluvalites . I felt bad I had flushed the Fluvalites out of the brush  and left them exposed to those other people.

Funny thing was no one said anything about Magnum filters.

Fluvalites are like the "unwashed masses" and eheimers are the "enlightened ones"

Magnums don't have enough space for filter media IMO.

I plan to by the Filstar XP3 online, I have seen it at 2 places 1 for 89 and the other for 109
You stated the Eheim was out of your price range, but I don't understand why. The Eheim Classic series can be had for this same price. I've seen the 2215 (Which will easily handle you're tank) for $99.

Don't get me wrong I was about to purchase a Filstar myself but for just a few dollars more I got the Eheim and I absolutly love it.

Let us know how the Filstar works out please. Since it's a fairly new product I have not heard many read world comments/reviews.

Momotaro
I see you have two eheims on your tank
I have a 75 gal, 1.73 watts per gal(custom sea life), flourite/eco complete substrate...been up for 2months
Moderately planted with Ludwigia, Rotala indica, Myrio Filia, Hygro tropical sunset, 3 swords, 5 or 6 Crypt wendittii, Crypt Balansae, retrospiralis,
Microsword(struggling) A few anubias

Have 9 celeb rainbows, 6 flame tetras, 4 green corys, 4 otos, 2 dorio botia, and a few amano shrimp

I am going to add more smaller crypts for ground cover and to make the tank a little more denser, since most foreground plants wont grow in 1.73

Momo
How do U have the eheims connected each with their own inlets and outlets or each with its own inlet and one outlet???

Do you know how to DYI CO2 using an Eheim???

Thanks

Well my new XP3 filstar and AC 500 are here. No time to setup yet, I hope to do that this weekend. Put the order in Monday and it here today, not to bad at all. Was sent via Fedex ground. Will let you know how it goes.

otherwise,

I have the soft water whites too. But what I do to help cut down on it is have a 5 gallon bucket with a heater and a small pump in it. I put treated water in the bucket along with the full dose of calcium carbonate and turn on the heater and pump and let it run for a day or two. It goes a long ways toward dissolving the calcium carbonate.

I'm with you 100%, the Classics..well they are what they're called! They have been there since Eheim first started, so there not as good as the high-tech canisters made today.
