All I use is Jobes...
14-3-7 for "Large Indoor Plants" the package says. 14% Nitrogen 3% Phosphate 7% Soluble Potash My plants grow like no tomorrow for next to nothing... I refuse to pay those prices they want for "name brand" ferts. Their are 18 sticks in this package and I break each into thirds and bury them next to my root feeders every couple months... suffice to say , I LOVE THEM...

Jobes Palms and Ferns sticks, NPK 16-2-6. Available around here in OSH stores, and perhaps others.

Those are the best but the 14-3-7's are the closest I could come. :? But they work great, no complaints here.

And here I thought that I was the only person who used Jobes plant spikes. I just didn't want to tell anyone and get shouted down by the masses. LOL
Just go to Walmart or just about any other big chain store and pick them up in the gardening section.

And they aren't detrimental to the fish?

As long as you push them into the substrate where they are needed, and they stay there... no harm to fish. They will be detrimental to your health, if they become unearthed, possibly causing a Green Water outbreak, which has been known to cause serious desperation and mental breakdowns among fish- and plantkeepers.

Depending on the size and growth of the targeted plant, every 2 to 4 months.
