What have you done!!!? The tank looked amazing clustered up. If anything I would have just taken a knife and cut the tops of the plant a few inches below the waterline leaving one or two here and there. Bettas are from rice ponds and look great the closer you can imitate their environment.
This being said, still looks great and the Betta is Beautiful!

Your betta colored up quite nicely since its "come home" photo, will you try to breed him?

Beautiful fish - he's one of the nicest I've seen in a while
Loved the jungle tank, but can see how the minimalism can work too!

That is a gorgeous betta. I'm getting ready to set up a 5 gallon pretty similar to this, but for red cherry shrimp. Hope it does as well as yours.

Thanks guys!
He has grown and changed SO much since I got him. I brought him home on 9/1 so it's been about 3 months. No breeding for him. I don't think I have the skills for that yet and I don't know if I will want to if I could hahaha
I'm pleased with the minimalist look, and I'm waiting for the anacharis to get its height back to cover the heater.

An African dwarf frog would be fine although they are recommended in pairs or groups. Otos are not that great as just one. A good alternative for an oto would be a nerite snail if you are wanting an oto for algae. Shrimp would also be great for that tank.

The stocking is set at 1 male betta, 1 amano shrimp, 1 nerite snail and a few pond snails
