Thank you. Not really liking the plant on the left in the bottom tank. I kind of wanted something to sort of camouflage the planter. It's not exactly working the way I want, but I will give it a little more time to grow in. Each tank has a male betta, one crowntail, and two halfmoon plakats. I also have added a couple bumblebee nerites.

I have bought most of them from Hydrophyte/Devin, who is a member here and sells riparium supplies. He puts threads in the for sale forum.

LOL, now those are some classic old tanks. I used to have some of the those laying around in storage. Finally got tired of them, since they were broken and pulled the slate bottoms out and tossed the rest. Do yours have the slate bottoms or are they glass?

Hi, yes all three have slate bottoms. The five gallon leaked. I was lucky that just warming it up with hot water reseated the tar substance and sealed it.

I may treat myself to one of these on e-bay soon. Every time I look at these....and I keep looking....I want one! I've always loved them but planted up like this they look spectacular.

Thanks and good luck! I just made sure the seller said they were leak tested. If you do get one that leaks, there are three ways to fix them that I have found. One is the way I did, which is the simplest. Another way is to have a piece of glass cut to fit inside and silicone that in to the other glass. The problem is silicone does not stick to the slate. The third way is a product called black dow corning 795 building sealant. The third way certainly seems the scariest to me. But supposedly from what I read, it has been used at a sea-quarium on large tanks like they use for display.

Thanks for that info. Hopefully I won't get a leaker but it's good to know if I do.
