StrikeEagle1's 75 Gal (56k warning)
Hey folks, finally setup my camera and took some pictures of the tank. It's been set up in this new house for approx 6 months now. Looking to replace the big piece of wood with some smaller manzanita pieces and adding more non-stem plants...
Front ![]() Sidelike... ![]() And the equipment...2026 (newly added) and 2128, plus Aquacontroller, 10lb tank, DIY bubble counter Right Side (2128, controller, etc) ![]() Left Side ![]() So what does everyone think? Any comments would be appreciated! |

Just added an autodosing system to the tank....seems to be working well, got everything from Lowes...
Got a Submersible Fountain Pump that had the same relative numbers (~160 GPH, etc) with a 1/2" ID connection. Then went to the plumbing section and got some 1/2" ID hose, and then some reducing items. Basically went from the 1/2" barb to a 3/16" barb and got the appropriate tubing. Also picked up the electronic timer! Total cost ~$35 Before install ![]() Underneath Tank

Yeah, that was from our Cichlid tank that my wife had...couldn't keep it up since we move so often. Thanks for the comments on the setup, I try to get close to what I have seen on this site!

How do you keep the plants down with that thing in there? I got a 8 inch Gibbey in my 125 and he's always knocking the plants up.

I didn't even see the Pleco until someone said something about it. Looked like another chunck of wood.
So the auto dosing thing. Basicly you mix up a solution of ferts. Pour into the doser and then the pump is on a timmer to dose as needed? I have kind of seen them around before but never really looked into them. Pretty neat I must say! Your tank looks pretty good too! |

This is where I got my inspiration to work on the project. All in all you can set it up for around ~$35 (less if you already have some of the supplies, more if not). 2wheelsx2: The pleco does knock some things around, but now that he's been in the tank awhile (he was a transplant from a cichlid tank) he's gotten more careful I guess (and the plants have rooted better) so now I don't have a mass of floating plants every morning! The tank is good, but definitely not 'scaped'. I want to get rid of some of the stem plants and get better plants to fill in the tank. |
