I was planning on purchasing 2-sx55w ballast kits from AH supply for my 75 gallon tank and use the 9325's that everyone is raving about for 65$, but I found a 48" All Glass Strip light with GE 9325 bulbs included for 103.99 at Big Al's. I have never bought there but it seemed like the better thing to do once you add in the cost of the bulbs to AH supply kit and the extra work. The only problem I saw with the all glass was that there was no reflector, just white, and the bulbs overlapped each other.
How big of a problem would the white reflector and the overlapped bulbs be??????? Thanks

Hey, I forgot to mention that my tripple light comes with a reflector. How many bulbs in that fixture?

Reflectors help, but I personally wouldn't pass up that deal. Hard to beat plug and play.

I don't think you have to worry about the overlap of bulbs. The picture on BigAls page probably refers to a fixture of a diffrent lenght (most like the 110 watts/36''). The 55 watt tubes are 22'', so two of them will fit nicely in a 48'' fixture, perfect for your 75 gallon tank.

This is the one he is referring to;

COMPACT FLUORESCENT STRIP LIGHT- 48" 110W (BLACK) -

Our new Compact Fluorescent Strip-Lites are the latest design and feature an electronic ballast that is ULŽ Listed for outdoor use. Of course you can't use these strip-lites outdoors, but by having an outdoor rated ballast that is fully "potted" guarantees that it will easily survive high humidity locations. The included GEŽ 9325° Kelvin 55 watt lamp is brand new and has the same color output as the GEŽ Fresh & Saltwater lamps we put in all our lights. It is an excellent tri-phosphor lamp with high output and a beautiful color for fresh or saltwater aquariums.

$103.99

BigAls often tends to use one picture for a number of different products from the same line. If you check out the 55 watt fixtures, you will see the same picture of a fixture with two overlapping bulbs.

For true pictures of the 48'' fixture go to the AGA homepage here.

Go to www.bigalsonline.com
Sorry I am not sure how to insert the url??
And yes I think the picture is for a 36"
AH Supply says the reflector is more critical, anyone else have more thoughts on the reflector????

If you want a 48" bulb go to Petsmart site. They have them in there with a reflector and the 9325 bulbs.

The newer lights have a chrome reflector. And if you go to the AH Supply site you will see that they compare their reflector against a flat reflector and get a lot more light into the tank.

Both fixtures might have the same amount of light over the tank but the AH Supply fixture will get a LOT more light into the tank.

On the 48", 110W model, the All-Glass light does not have overlapping bulbs. The 36" model is the only one that has overlapping bulbs.

If you want to see it, go to http://www.all-glass.com/products/hoods/index.html and select "High Output Strip Lights" on the left.
