KH GH Test kit

Any recommendations for a quality KH GH test kit?

I'm currently using along with my API Master kit:

HM Digital TDS Meter
Oakton PH Tester Oakton PH Tester

Hanna Low Range Ammonia Tester
Hanna Ultra Low Range Nitrite Tester

I know the digitals might be considered overkill, but I do a much better job of reading numbers than trying to figure out a color scale.

The API GH and KH test kits work for most purposes, though some users find the colour change difficult. The test kits themselves are also sometimes finicky with respect to their expiry dates.

You can try purchasing LaMotte test kits, but they are quite pricey.

Would this Hanna Freshwater alkalinity checker work for KH?

It would be ok. You divide the ppm by 17.8 to get the deg KH. Technically I think it depends on what Carbonates you have in the water but ive used the Palintest on my aquariums for years. If you have access to RO water you can check the calibration of the tests, there is a thread about doing this :
Add 879.2 milligrams of baking soda to 10 L of RO/DI water for 2.93 dKH.

Add 1.6 grams of baking soda to 10 L of RO/DI water for 5.26 dKH. Fully dilute.

I'm a big fan of Sera for GH & KH testing. Color changes are a bit easier to discern than API.

Test strips aren't an accurate method for testing GH and KH.
