How to keep rotala red??


Mine has become almost completely green. I'm pretty upset. I dose iron almost every other day with 36w for 6 hours.

What type of light are you using? DIfferent lightbulb types offer varying intensities for the same wattage.

Need more info on your tank. Lighting and tank size, specifically. Also, what your co2 is like. Also, what species of rotala?

For rotala rotundifolia, to keep it red, I think you'd need fairly high light and plenty of co2. Iron is an important supplement but is not the solution to keeping plants red.

Also, most green rotala species with the capability of being red usually only become red at the tops, where the light is the strongest. Don't expect this entire plant to be red.

The whole plant was red when i got it.

My tank
11.4 gal mr.aqua
Archaea power compact 36w
Amazonia soil
DIY c02 through a diffuser

It's probably a Rotala rotundifolia that is only green. I have some of that too.
