Selling tanks at a LFS

Has anyone here tried this before? I was contemplating selling my 56 gallon column style tank so I wanted to look at all options. I'm assuming I probably wouldn't get much, though?

Never saw a fish store buy used tanks, but one not far from here takes them on consignment sometimes. You might do better with Craigslist or something, but then you have to deal with the 'public'

Yeah, most people on craigslist are pretty stupid honestly. I put an item up on there recently for 300 dollars, only to get an email from somebody asking if I'd take 100 for it.

Probably because there are so many people on Craigslist selling things worth $100 for $300.

The prices some people put on their stuff is ridiculous. There are lots of people out there trying to make a profit while selling used stuff. Or they tell you, piece by piece, what their things are going for new, and then knock of 5%. RIGHT! I'd rather go out and buy new and get a warranty if I'm going to spend that much.

Yeah, well, the item I'm selling I know is actually worth the amount I'm asking for it.

Try eBay but instead of shipping you can select local pick up

With craigslist you can stick with your price (as long as its reasonable) and you might have to wait 2-3 weeks or even more, but u'll eventually sell it. At least thats what I have experienced.
