tank build, opinions please

i have a 25x25 inch square of half inch glass for the bottom of the tank, and quarter inch for walls, would like opinions on how tall i should go, i thought it would be cool to go 25 tall but dont want to punch through that much water with the lighting.... 18-20 maybe? also would like a glass calculator link to determine thickness of glass needed? if anyone's seen that..?

Shallow squares can look pretty nifty. Something like 25x25x12?

That sounds cool, especially when thinking of strength of the tank, and buying a light lol, think id need the stand to be pretty tall for viewing. .?

I think that would depend on what you want your centerpiece to be. You could do something like a big island in the middle with a big piece of driftwood and then have plants all around it or a riparium style as well. You can get away with stand being lower if you do a riparium island type. If not maybe a 3ft tall stand?

Well according to the chart you could go 15" high and still keep 1/4" glass and still be fine. Anything higher and you will be cutting it close with the glass you have so if it's your first time better to keep it safe and go with the shallower option.

This one is only 18 high that I did, shallow cubes for the win.

You can go higher with 1/4 but going to have to do some euro bracing

Damn shallow cubes are so awesome. Yours look great! Someday when I have more room I would love to have a big 60g cube.

There was an old pet store that had a saltwater shallow square that they showcased all of their big community marine fish and live rocks and reefs that was probably around 7' or more on each side, 'twas amazing
