Fluval 305 canister filter

Is the Fluval 305 canister filter(rated for up to 70gal) too much for a 46 gal bowfront as apposed to AquaClear50 (rated 20-50gal) or AquaClear70 (rated 40-70gal) because I have all 3 of these but I don't know which one i should go with. Who out there has any insight or suggestions as to which would be my best option for my future 46 bowfront pt?

Bigger is better. I'd go with the 305. I'm currently running a 406 in my 36 gal bowfront and I still wish I had more flow.

I have a 405 on my 46g bowfront. It's adequate, but I recently upgraded to an Eheim 2217 because I got a great deal on it.

I have a 305 in a 29g along with a 206. No such thing as too much filtration. You could always put the 305 on one side and the AC50/70 on the other for better flow distribution across the tank.

It all kinda depends on what stock you're keeping. No such thing as too much filtration is true, but too much flow is definitely possible. You wouldn't want to put an fx6 on a ten gallon right? I have a 206 on my 36 gallon bow and the water is always pristine, but I also keep fish that don't like a lot of flow and I'm pretty under stocked. I also tried a 306 before the 206 and it was too strong, I had to limit the flow way down and doing that can cause premature wear and tear on the motor so I switched it out.

Running a 406 on a 36 gallon, no issues at all. Restricting the flow on a mag-drive impeller really shouldn't hurt the motor at all - in fact that is what the 'flow-lever' adjustment on canister filters does.

I run a 306 on my 60p sized tank, and it's great. Just adjust the flow to what you want.

Great feedback everybody, thank you. The 305 came w/ the tank, it's used but it works so maybe I'll do what gus6464 suggested by running along w/ the AQ50 or AQ70 which are brand new once I decide which one of those to keep because I have no use for both if I run the 305. If anybody else out there has any suggestions, keep em comin.

I'd go for the AQ70. The AquaClears are a bit overrated, and you'll want to push for more flow out of those. Never had experience with those ones, but my AQ20 is rated for 20 gallons, and on my 5g it's just a little more than a slight trickle. So I'd go for the bigger filter
